Fulbright Shenanigans
My Fulbright cohort represented 10 higher education institutions across the U.S. I met an extraordinary group of individuals with whom I got to share this experience!
Though, I’ve only worn a sari once (ever), I’ve watched my mother put on a sari at least 2000 times. This resulted in me demonstrating how to put on a sari while using someone’s scarf as a prop.
The UC San Diego men’s & women’s basketball team were both playing in the March Madness tournaments - it was the first year the teams were eligible - the scholar athletes made history! I got the entire Fulbright cohort to cheer for the Tritons, even if it was only for 5 seconds! I had so much fomo being away from the action, but it was fun to be a fan abroad!
My Fulbright cohort mate, Maggie, who did color guard back in the day, jumped in with a student who was performing Tamilian martial arts!
Holi
Holi is the festival of colors to celebrate welcoming Spring! In North India it is traditional to play holi with colors! While we were in Southern India (where holi traditionally is not celebrated), we were on a mission to play - when there is a will, there is way! We all had a blast, the photos are evidence!
